In a world where people are dumping cable subscriptions in favour of streaming video... this has to be one of the dumbest, out of touch decisions in car racing... excluding 98% of FIA/FOM decision in F1, the recent Indy car bodies, the Lambo cheating asshattery.... well... errr... wow, what is going on?

I am cancelling my cable this week, just because we rarely watch it anymore and I would rather use the money for gas, brakes, and tires. Also, the kids should be outside playing with asbestos brake dust, sniffing gas in bags, and starting large tire fires...

Yeah it doesn't make a lot of sense. I haven't had cable for 3 or 4 years, I just stream with Roku.

I just watch IMSA on Youtube, it gets uploaded about a week after the race. Several other sportscar series are Youtube too (Continental challenge, Pirelli World Challenge, TransAM, etc) .I watch WRC highlights on the Redbull app. Thinking about getting the Motortrend app for $6/mo, it has DTM, touring cars, and a bunch of other good stuff from Europe.

Or you pay for a subscription on their website and get all the races in live streaming.

Is IMSA only blocking the stream for US citizens or can't we Europeans watch anymore either?

Like it or not, racing is a business. If you were Fox, and paying a lot of money to IMSA for the broadcast rights, why would you allow IMSA to broadcast for free? I would bet A LOT of money this was not IMSA's decision.

But Fox won't air the entire race. When it goes off the air the stream should be available for everybody and then we come back the the TV for the finish.

This is what killed the ALMS. This exact same ****.

I did not know this. Thanks for the info. I really miss Au V8 SC. Do they stream in HD?

I don't know if this killed ALMS, but it turned me off. I need to record the races and watch them during off hours. This chit with no TV coverage of US races makes me believe the future is not bright for auto racing here. Very small fan base.

I bought a month of Motortrend on Demand and all they have is 2015 v8 races right now. The first 2016 race will be uploaded March 21.

Well they took the live racing off tv, geoblocked the live feed and we got a clip show of the race the next day. And this was Atherton's "Four ways to watch" pile of crap because he can't negotiate a media package to save his life. His grand plan did;t include satellite subscribers who are about 60% of households in the country. And he's the same Atherton heading up IMSA and their new media package.

When ALMS was taken off the air for a 3 year contract I knew right then it was doomed. And it's gone.

If you can't watch watch the race what good is it to the sponsors?
