I was on the board of my PCA region when we started a DE program in 1989. At that time LRP on a Tuesday in June (full day) was $1600. We charged $60 per driver, had 60 drivers and made a ****-ton of money (excess revenue). Not any longer... Our program at LRP loses money with every event.

Barber was the first big track rental bill I ever saw in 2003. $20K/dayat that time, twice as much as any other track except Daytona, at the time.

The other part of track rental prices is that the price is often different for a race vs. a DE. They also have different weekday and weekend rates. Spectators add another level of expense. Even with those variables, I think the article is pretty good.
