If you could only ever own three cars...

I don't. Also to clarify, I own the first two but not the third one - the 910 - on my "if..." list. Meanwhile, I'm learning as much as I can about 60s Porsche (and Ferrari) prototype cars.

1) I absolutely LOVE the look of the 1990 or 1991 McLaren F1 car. THAT'S the dream.
2.) My 2011 GT3RS (Christ am I lucky...)
3.) LeMans prototype car (Porsche 962C ?)

Apr-Aug 52' Adria Blue 356 Coupe
McLaren F1 (track only and money no object might look into a high revving Porsche flat six drivetrain swap!)
94' 3.6 Turbo (street with 750+hp)

A good allrounder like an Audi RS wagon with aftermarket height adjustable suspension and tweaks for work/family/track/impromptu rallycross etc (must have a proper handbrake), and 2 917/30s.
Then I'd sell of one of the 917s so I could afford to track and race the other until my dying day (which admittedly might not be far away if piloting one of those).
If another car or two were allowed a look in, then either an F40 (even if scared the lag might disappoint when I finally drive one) or a more practical modded Turbo (996 or maybe whatever Porsche brings out next if it has a proper handbrake and defeatable aids).
On second thoughts, with an unlimited budget I'd get the Audi to tide me over and then work with the best minds in the world to create two uber-allrounders, before selling one to clear sufficient funds to get that 917/30 with lifetime racing budget.

McLaren F1 LM
Ferrari F40
Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0
This way I can also sorta own a BMW via what may be the greatest road going engine ever made.
Plus, the first two would make the 4.0 feel like a caddy, for when I got old....

I am not sure what the 3rd car would be at this time. But I presently own two very iconic cars which have withstood the test of time. Yes they have both changed a bit over the years, but they have both maintained their fundamentals.
1) Porsche 911 - a 1997 993C2 in this case.
2) Jeep Wrangler - a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (it's not stock)
as far as the 3rd car? that's a tough call. I would like a faster Porsche (the 991 GT3RS is presently my dream car). But I no longer have access to a local race track, my local race track was permanently closed down on me by the local authorities with no sign of a replacement ever surfacing. So do I really need a faster car? My 993C2 is plenty fast for the public roads. Besides if I sold my 993, I'd need a new Rennlist screen name (I didn't think my screen name through all that clearly)
a 3rd car? Tough call. Do I want more speed? Do I want more luxury? Do I want something practical? LOL screw the practical, that's boring.

I don't know... That's not how I interpreted the question. It wasn't "Unlimited money for 3 cars AND whatever else you might need to transport yourself, your family, and your groceries from place to place." And all of that, I might add, would require automobiles of some sort, of which you are ONLY allowed 3.
Otherwise, the question would simply be what are your 3 favorite dream cars.

W211 E63 (2009 was the last year I think)
993 Turbo S
Ferrari F50

I know I know... its a Gem! But having a platform like that with the bark of a fully built 3.0 shortstroke flat 6 or a GT3 RSR motor would be the ultimate! I really wouldn't ruin an F1 in real life only during online fantasy time!
