Default Road America PCA Purple Enduro #714 E 911 Video

Had a great time starting the Purple Enduro on a last minute invite by friend and racer Pat Heptig. For those who don't know me I really like air cooled 911's...alot. I am certainly not alone in this feeling, I just don't get to race them often and jumped at the opportunity. What a great group of racers. I found it interesting how a few of the E cars out there had what seemed like much higher rpm's than Pat's car would do. I believe his rev limiter is at 6700-6800 ish revs...some of the other E cars really howl and motivate down the straights that for sure. Was a blast either way, Thanks Pat!!!

3.2 Carreras are supposed to have a 6520 rpm limit and the 3.0 Euro SC's are 6800-7000.
Not all the Carreras seemed like they had the 6520 limit in your video.
Nice driving.

We watched the entire Puprple Enduro from the new walkway on the inside of Canada Corner. Some very nice racing!
#66 CLAUDIO KAEMPF was really FAST!
We had about 6-8 people at any one time besides the 4 corner workers before and at Canada Corner watching. Seems PCA could get more spectators?
Nice show!-Richard

Thanks a lot for posting this video. Great driving. You gave me a few new things to try next year!

Interesting observation about the rev limits.

The Purple Enduro was pretty messed up with two LONG double yellows from two heavy damage single car crashes. I hope everybody is OK.

See y'all again next year-

Yes, we pitted immediately after the first yellow and right before the second yellow.
Lady Luck was watching over us this weekend.

ok at 20 minutes you have 3 pros going at it. Jason hart, Mark White, and Andrew Carbonell.

How cool is that

With shoes like that what a race to watch. The E class is really growing and a blast to race in.

Not all the Carreras seemed like they had the 6520 limit in your video.
The 3.2's should have the fuel cut limiter on the DME chip, right? Is there an actual fuel cut or limiter on the SC's CIS system?

Is there a difference in gearing and/or final drive between the 3.2's and the SC's? And between the 915 and G50 3.2's? Assuming all were on the low profile 275/15 rears?

Been 10+ years since I had a car in E (then F), I recall Euro SC's and some really developed 944S2's were the competitive cars then, and 3.2 Carreras were not podium cars. Anything changed in the rules or development that now has them up top with the Euro SC's?

Wow! I had no idea you ran in the E class enduro!

I was tempted to rent an E car from Accumoto for the Sprints.
Love E class!

Some great racing in your video and the sound of the cars is the best!

The PCA Scruts at RA got data samples from about 1/3 - 1/2 of the E Class field. My educated guess is that this is enough to identify the outliers in terms of max RPM and gearing. We shall see....

AFAIK - the 3.2 Carrera DME cuts the fuel pump to control the RPM limit. Chips are allowed but not those that would increase the RPM limit from stock. The SC rev limit is set by the rotor in the distributor. A tab holds one end of a spring and CF pushes a weight against the spring, grounding the spark at the limit.
