What tyres are you running??

You need to get a fresh set of Hankook 214's, check the geo and corner balance. Could find some lazy time here. The rest will be hard work.

I'm moving geometry further away from circuit for targa in May. Will get it corner balanced after I've got some more ride height. I'm running r888s for targa. They felt good in the rain on Sat. Definitely see some 214s in my future after targa. The geometry is out at the moment, lefts and rights feel very different. But just trying to get some seat time. It is very addictive, trying to get faster.

IMHO 888's good choice for Targa. 214's will be 1.5's quicker on the track.

Depends how competitive you are I suspect John. None of us go out there wanting to break the car. I do agree that once you start circulating within 85%+ of the cars ability you are adding accelerated wear and tear, more so on a heavier road car. That being said Ive yet to take the car on the track and deliberately back off in order to improve the mechanical longevity. Maybe its just me (and Paul!) but when I take that thing to the track I want it to go as quickly as I can make it. Maybe when the gearbox is finally working as it should I can regain some composure - that baulked shift throws me every lap (youve got my incar footage and will hear the cursing at Levels & Teretonga LOL!) - and I think that experience has certainly helped me feel a bit more sympathetic to the gearbox/engine revs. I think also in hindsight Ill drop heel & toe for all but corners where I need to shift down two gears under braking. Getting the rev matches wrong stresses the engine and your focus is spread across a number of actions at once. Letting the clutch out too early backs the revs up and the engine becomes the brake which is obviously detrimental to top end longevity. If you can get it perfect 100% of the time then fine but Im probably only 80% of the time and its not ideal. Need more seat time to get this better. Doesnt help the only time I drive manual is when in NZ usually straight into some fast driving.

Theres definitely something addictive about all of this!

Tripped over this nice photo and video review of a competitive porsche track day event in Europe. Similar range of cars that we run.

Nice for a little bit of track day action fix.

Googling for one of these led me to it. Looks like I may need something like this for our next road trip under construction, or the Cayenne if I still have it by then...

Very nice. Someone has built a replica Rothmans car in Chch - it was in the previous Spiel Mag. I am more exited by the 993 RS hiding in the back ground - Speedlines are very nice.......

It's much faster to repair a puncture than round up the wives from the surrounding shops when we're done

Hard to beat the GT3 as a value consideration (if you can afford to maintain one).

You can buy them for less than this with the number of cars available for sale at the moment - there are several, and about 20 more when you look on Aussie sites...........

P.s. - when do I pick up the seats

Agreed.. the selection of GT3's is varied unlike sports seats
