In all sincerity, I doubt this will happen in North America - our municipalities rely too much on their exorbitant revenues from speeding tickets. Here in Calgary see at least 3 traps a day. Statistics in 2015 were 400,000 photo radar tickets (for a city of barely over a million) - I've heard estimates that it generates over $250 million for city coffers. It is so bad here that the provincial government has actually intervened to tell them to back off. So - I very much doubt that this will be adopted in most Canadian cities, our civil servants are just too greedy.

Speed limiting technology set to become mandatory for all vehicles sold in Europe from 2022, after new rules were provisionally agreed by the EU. How long before it is n North American cars?
