Default shipping over border UPS

I need to ship interior parts (two door pocket covers) to US and was going to use UPS but worried about their brokerage charges. value is $300. any suggestions? fill in forms for them, send via postal service? normally would just take them over border but no trips planned with COVID.

I tried Steve and left a message.
I am now thinking maybe postal service will be better, but may be very slow. what do you guys think? is there a way to send it UPS without brokerage? maybe say it is a gift?

I’m thinking your going to pay a fortune with UPS. I order three 1 Litre bottle of transmission oil (Mobilube PTX) from Oregon to Alberta . Cost of purchase was $95us and by the time it reached my door steps.. $220can.
This was also back in January before our dollar took a harder hit on the exchange.

was it worth it? Absolutely it was! Lol

My rule of thumb is if it fits within the Canada Posts size limits, then it goes by Canada Post. Period. And always mark as a gift.

If you have to go with a courier, I would use DHL long before I touch UPS or Fedex. DHL's depot is at Hamilton airport.

UPS and Purolator are gangsters ... Don't use them under any circumstance ..... between customs and brokerage and shipping fee's the costs can easily outweigh the cost of the parts themselves .... Always use Canada Post or Canada Post Express (depending on size and cost of item)

Even when you purchase via Ebay etc always ask to ship via USPS ...... 8 times out of ten I never even get charged custom fee's ....

I echo this. Don't use UPS for anything or you will pay through the nose

I use this service for anything small under $500. Very inexpensive and works well.

If going to or from US, I almost always try to use Canada Post/USPS. DHL and UPS are complete bandits. Have not tried Fedex.

@Turbodan - Shipping from Canada into the US will be duty free if your shipment is valued under $800 -- assuming it doesn't require special clearance like FDA. The shipping prices quoted on ShipNerd will include shipping and routine customs / brokerage.

Hope this helps,

Steve

+1 for originating Canada Post that way and USPS this way if you're not in a hurry. I've not been charged HST if it's only a few hundred.

I believe it is going DHL. They are coming by the house today to collect and it is insured.

Sweet! People are really loving ShipNerd's schedule a pickup feature during these times.. No waiting in line at the post office. Schedule a pickup through the site, and have them pick up directly from your house.
