Yes it would be simpler to drive to the coast, that's what I did when I took it over in '95. Drove it from Rotterdam but the problem is that the car is now a lot older, although in good shape, I don't want to risk driving it as it probably will break down. Also, the cost of fly over is an expense that I can roll into the shipping. All this will going to wait a bit because the cost of shipping containers has tripped in the last year so the car will sit in Budapest for a bit longer. As for the registration, well..............it still has Ontario plates!

I was told that if a car were in an EU country without customs clearance for 6 months it would be seized. You're expected to pay duties and road taxes

The car spent most of this time in Serbia. They are not in the EU. Every time I used it had to get tourist vehicle insurance on it. Got pulled over many times, crossed many borders in and out of the EU and all the paperwork was always ok. I'm pretty sure this was a grey area but it worked for me.

Police and border guards have a lot of leeway especially when it comes to dealing with foreigners. Depends who you run into and where you are. I've only had vehicle papers checked thoroughly in switzerland and turkey. Better not look at the guy the wrong way. Also, don't have an accident

As an example, we recently flew into the US. The american border guy didn't ask to see vax certificates or covid tests.

I had the paperwork checked every time I crossed the border (25 or 30 times), has been pulled over for speeding where all the paperwork was checked numerous times (I paid the fine), even been in a accident and the tourist insurance each country had at the time worked. Now things probably changed in the last 10 years and maybe the loophole was closed, I haven't driven the car in the last 10 years but before that, this system worked for me.

this is my old car. The fox bodies are going up in value. I sold this car to the current owner within 30 minutes of posting it online btw.

Hey all (especially East Coast USA).

What hasn't been mentioned yet with the Felicity Ace disaster is that there was another VAG group ship loaded up at Emden and bound first for Davisville just after Felicity Ace left.
RCC Prestige, fresh out of dry dock in Spain. I myself cannot discren whether my car is on the Ace or the Prestige (SA's system at Audi is appantly down)

Prestige departed Tuesday evening, and promptly started circling in the English channel off the mouth of the Themes and has been there ever since. SIEM Confusious just passed her, inbound to Emden.

I am going to take a wild guess that they are holding the Prestige, perhaps even helo'ing in an engineering team in to inspect the cars in cargo. That would be prudent.

When I looked at my projected time line I thought I was looking at a sales pitch from a JIT training firm.🤣🤣

My GT3 arrived at the German port on 6-2. The milestone date emails from Porsche are a nice change compared to requesting your SA for updates.
