All new Euro cars to be speed limited

The article refers to the UK but it is in respect of an EC-wide Mandate. So if you want to take your new 911 down the autobahn at a reasonably high speed, better hurry. It is not a retrofit of course, but with the Greens possibly winning next majority in Germany the autobahns are in danger.
Happy memories of many trips - just want to grab a few more before its too late.,

I used to think it was good to be young with a bright future and an endless high speed road ahead. Now I think how much fun it has been....there will be a few more fast miles for sure, but the fast road sure looks a lot shorter.

The CDU and SPD will still hold the balance of power at something like over 50% of all votes. The Green party is a notoriously split party and at any moment could have a large percentage of their members move to the far left. Right now the Green party is riding higher than at any point in its history because they have a youngish (40) candidate (Annalena Baerbock) that has a dynamic personality and so far has kept her party from splitting into factions. She says she won't make a deal with the far left parties but many doubt she can resist the seat of power if it comes down to it. There is a possibility of her becoming Chancellor but the balance of power (ability to kill legislation) would still lay in the hands of the centre right parties. The very last thing the EU government in Brussels wants to do is introduce mandatory laws upon Germany that would force it to invoke special clauses in the relationship to remove Germany from EU imposed legislation. We all saw how this went over with Britain... The German Car industry is a very powerful group along with the metal workers union. Even the Green party requires support from groups that would be affected by these moves. Already we see the German industry moving toward an EV future - a sudden move to restrict speeds might be a bridge too far. I see a modified approach of rational speed limits on small cars and SUV's and sports cars left alone or defeat switches installed. Of course this could all be a rouse or master plan to just lower speed limits as, 'technically easier and cheaper' if manufactures put up cost arguments. I kinda doubt it as the EU Government isn't that smart and the German Government pays the freight on EU government expenditures... (snort). Add in talk in France about leaving the EU can't be much help in gaining their support over Germany. No, the real danger to speeds on the autobahn remains construction and 'Flatlanders' (Dutch) on holidays pulling campers at 90kph...
