2013 911 Carrera S - $35K Accident Report - How To Get More Info
Hey Everyone,
I was looking at purchasing this vehicle from Quebec- when I asked the owner of any accidents, he was convinced there was nothing and provided me with the VIN where carfax stated otherwise. The repair seems to have occured either in the hands of the previous owner or dealership and sold by the local Porsche dealership to the current owner with a 'normal' title.
How can I go about seeing what type of damage actually occurred and possibly pictures - carfax simply states 'Front Right Corner' .
I'd look for something else by there is next to nothing available in Canada. (2013-17 911 S, Manual)
Thanks in advance

Unless you plan to keep this car until you die it is a hard pass. you will have trouble selling this. try asking the seller he probably knows about it. In Ontario there are laws against not disclosing this info when selling.

2013 911 Carrera S - $35K - That's really cheap even with corner damage . Did you ask the seller why he is selling it suspiciously cheap regardless of prior "minor damage" ? You can try to nicely ask the dealership for the cars history some will provide this some will not depending how lucky you get . Just a warning Quebec is sketchy when it comes to reporting and documenting prior damage and write-offs.
You or someone with Porsche knowledge needs to inspect or PPI that car to get an overall health status of that car .. How may K's on the car ?

x2. I don’t mind buying a repaired car, it just need to be done right and the price should reflect it. Full price, not for me. There will be others.
My 997 had had 3 accidents. slow speed trailer hitch into the hood, bumper, two wings and headlights. That was 18k 10years ago. Piece of bouncing steel, took out the front control arm and pierced the rear tire and through the rim. I think that was 8k, and an other $omething. I always like a non perfect car, it is far more relaxing.
Turbodan- yes dealer are supposed to disclose accidents or damage, and as I understand “if they are aware of it”. BUT if they don’t look and research, then they don’t know, then they don’t need to tell. So really, it’s to the best of their knowledge.
I always try and bring a potential car home, and wash it. Funny the things you can find with a good cleaning, touching, and rubbing.

$35k in repair costs on a late-model 911 can happen pretty quickly. I had just the bumper cap replaced on a 997.2 GTS a few years back - no light damage, no metal or other paint damage at all - at a certified Porsche repair centre and the cost was about $10k. A bumper cap on a 991.1, as well as light replacement (headlight and turning light), a front fender, wheel and tire replacement and just minor front right suspension or brake work could easily add up to $35k, especially if performed at a certified Porsche collision centre. If the current owner doesn't have documentation of the fix though, it's not likely you'll be able to find it unless it was done at a Quebec Porsche body shop and they were willing to share repair info with you. If the price is right, and you can get documentation it's not necessarily as big a deal as many folks think.

I ended up getting a full breakdown of the replaced parts - all work was done by the Porsche Dealership ...Asking price is 89k CAD. The 10k in 'other' charges is the confusing part .

I am guessing front corner damage with bumper, fender, wheel, light, radiator, frunk involved at the minimum.
I personally would walk unless you get a huge discount off list and you plan on driving it to the ground.
If not, you will have this same problem with people nitpicking when you try to sell.
Just my 2 cents.

Wonderful that it was repaired and documented by the dealer.
but there is zero chance as a private seller down the road, you will be able to get out of that car without losing your shirt.
in the Porsche world, losing money on a car is rare.
but that is 100% for sure, the exception.
at any price, that is a hard no.

Have to agree, it’s not cheap enough to justify buying with that accident history regardless of how well it was repaired.
