PSA - Hagerty
Well my renewal from Hagerty came with a hefty increase and a BS $40 valuation fee. I guess someone has to pay for their club houses. Lol
Long story short I moved my coverage to Vintage with double the liability at 2m.
When I called Hagerty today to cancel my policy. The lady said “wow you have been with us a long time” I said yep. They didn’t even ask why I was cancelling nor did they seem to care.
Jason at Vintage was amazing to deal with. I highly recommend them for your classic insurance needs.

well this is interesting news.
I will have to renew next April so i guess i will get hit with it then. I may just look at my regular insurance company and the multi car discount. I bet they are competitive.

Mine was $596 in 2020 at 58k, then for 2021 they offered to bump my value to 70k for $690 which I did. Then this year the new rate was $804 @ 70k. Clean record, no tickets, no claims.
Vintage is $379 at 58k value with double the liability than Hagerty @ 2m.
Hagerty can suck it.

Got this from the Vintage website:Eligibility Requirements**
This sounds like the Antique bike insurance that I had, which did not cover "ice cream rides" etc. I was only insured for formal bike/car events. Is this your understanding of your new coverage?
- The vehicle is not to be used for racing, speed tests, or off-road use.
- All operators must have a valid "G" license.
- The vehicle is not to be used for regular transportation (i.e. taken to work, driven to shopping malls or box stores etc.) Exceptions are made for car shows, cruise nights, and other vintage car related events.
- Vehicles containing a Nitrous Oxide System or other jet-fuel based system are strictly prohibited.

I have had great luck with Hagerty - they have been excellent and very competitive (my agent bids the policy with AIG and Chubb every few years). Most importantly, when there is a claim they are extraordinary. Also their roadside assistance is terrific - they only use very well vetted flatbed people and are much better than AAA or Porsche Roadside Assistance. Most importantly, ask your shop if they have dealt with Hagerty and how they feel about them vs other companies.

And to answer your question "Is this your understanding of your new coverage?" No that is not the case, they only care about driving to work, malls or family trips. They also did not care about my daughter with her G1 and said that when she gets a G they will just want to exclude her from driving it, which is fine by me.

Did they tack on the BS $40 valuation fee? They held that back last year because of covid. From what I have heard anyone on Hagerty should expect an increase next year. My renewal was for this December.
The jump they gave me was utter BS. And for coverage with only 1m in liability.

Thanks. I'll check them out of Hagerty gives me an unacceptable increase next year, but I will double check that pleasure use is OK. This is from Hagerty's site:
A policy through Hagerty allows you reasonable pleasure use, with no fixed restrictions—it just can't be your daily driver.
Hagerty's wording does seem far less restrictive...
