transmission fluid change intervals
Wondering when transmission fluid should be flushed and changed ? Porsche recommends 10 yrs but I find that an incredibly long period of time ... anyone else have experience in this ? Tks. Abe

If it shifts like butter, leave it alone. If you can't get into 1st from time to time or have a notchy 2nd when cold, an oil change will help. Btw, I have 3 liters of the manual transmission oil sitting in my garage I am selling for $60 if you need some

I do transmission fluid with every second brake fluid change. So, if brake fluid flush every two years (street driven), then transmission fluid at 4 years....regardless of mileage. If track driven, transmission fluid change yearly and fresh brake fluid before every track session, unless just a "leisurely" DE where not exceeding 7/10s. In that case, just change fluids as though it's a street car.
Some say "overkill"; I say really cheap insurance and priceless peace of mind.
BTW, the above applies to both manual gearbox cars as well as PDK-equipped vehicles. Don't confuse changing PDK transmission fluid with the clutch pack fluid...this helps explain: https://ecarguides.com/maintenance-g...911-2009-2016/

Had mine done at Hunter for under $200 at the time of cable and shifter replacement

Thank you- you and I are similar on prevention. I like to get ahead of the curve not behind it especially when dealing with these cars. Makes sense.

I follow the manual recommendations except for oil and filter changes which get done every couple of years - around 2k miles. I am willing to spare no expense for my classic cars but changing perfectly good fluids more often than necessary is a waste of money.

I would if I had tires that were on my Porsche for 10 yrs regardless of the tread. Your comment has inconsistent context.

Nothing wrong with inspecting the fluid too. If it looks good, leave it. Dirty, smelly, sparkly? Change it out if your ocd, take a sample and date it, with mileage.
