There was a PCA instructor that was hit by an extinguisher a few years back when his student crashed. Plastic bracket in that case but, you want it to stay put if the worst happens.
yeah... that's not good. Plus, I think the ones bolted to the front of the passenger seat look all business.

I doubt those little extinguishers are approved. Are they not one time use? You really don't want one that goes off like a hose while you are trying to change your aim. Metal to metal mounting too.

@Muskoka How did your fire extinguisher situation pan out for track day?

I picked up a Rennline mount over the weekend. Just need a fire extinguisher. I'm moving the Element piece to my daily driver. PCA tech chair said the Element ones are approved. And yes, they are one-time use.

it went really well. Picked it up north of Toronto, then drove backroads to mosport. Two bolts, and it was installed.

really liked these pca track days. Well run. Good groupings. People seem to be pretty safe. Instructors were great. Definitely going to need to do more of these.

In my old c63 I’d be doing about 230-235 at the end of the straight. In this thing, I’m doing well over 240 before I even get to the hill. It’s insane. Definitely don’t need any more power for a while.

Thanks for the feedback!

How did you mount the extinguisher and where did you get it? I need one for myself. Feel free to PM. Thanks!

I bought the one off of pca ucr for sale section. It was previously sold by mantis. But they are now selling the one-shot deals.

thanks for sending the original link to the guy selling on pca. That was a life saver.

I really like the look of it, and it’s a solid bit of kit. My only issue is I often run the passenger seat full forward, as I often have a kid in the back. Can’t do that with the extinguisher in. Pretty silly problem, and I can just take the extinguisher out, or uninstall in 5 minutes.

also, turbodan, I had the e12 bolts in mine. Not Allen key.

yes makes sense. not sure why I said allen key.
I usually leave the plate attached to the seat bolts and remove the extinguisher holding hardware (2 bolts). then can move seat forward unobstructed.

you will get assigned a number ahead of time. you may be able to choose one. you can also use shoe polish or bingo dabber to write on window numbers. bring a tire pressure gauge, a chair and lots of water.

Rennline has good stuff. Don;t see 718/982 call out but maybe universal mount works. They are quick to help if you email.
