Just read Car and Driver’s first drive review of the new Z. They seem to like it.
Based on the USD to CDN $ exchange the car is cheaper here than in the US to boot. 👍

based on history...Car and Driver give good reviews to their advertisers. I hope it is a great car. I was very dissappointed when I rented a 370Z for car week in Monterey a few years ago...terrible build quality overall IMO.

Ditto.
Nissan Z cars have a history of being priced competitively and when the 370Z was available, they couldn’t even give them away.

They touched on this in their review. Said the car is much improved to the point that it can serve as a DD.

I drove it on track a couple of months ago. Overall I enjoyed it. Compact, nice interior, sounds good. Massively under-tired...almost undrivable on track in the rain with the Bridgestones. Boost comes on and back end is gone!
Once the track tried there was decent grip but it's pretty softly sprung. Makes for a fast, comfortable road car. Controversial opinion...I preferred the automatic to the manual. Just a better integrated drivetrain and it was noticeably faster in our head to head drag race between 6m and 6a.
Overall excellent value. I drove the Supra shortly after and it definitely feels like a more expensive car but much tighter inside if that matters.
For a daily driver that's also a weekend toy the Z is cheap thrills with a massively improved interior and power.

I'm going to have to test drive one, would love to get some track time in the new Z.
My dad bought one of the first 370Z's to arrive in Canada back in 09. I own a 74 260Z with triple weber DCOE 40's that I've had for quite a while. Z cars have always been a good value. I know the 370Z isn't the greatest car ever made and I have my own issues with the choice of flywheel/clutch in the 09 (which was apparently later addressed).
Overall it was a performance bargain, you could get an "enthusiast edition" 370Z for under $30K not that long ago. 330HP and all that torque out of one of the best mass produced V6 engine platforms. And yet everyone would **** and moan about the interior fit and finish and lack of practicality. It's a 5 second 0-60 naturally aspirated manual. I think it was overlooked by a lot of people as a track/weekend car. The people I know who bought the car as a weekend car or to modify for track use are happy with them. The people who typically dislike them own cars that cost twice as much and their expectations are unreasonable of the Z IMO.

I was there that day too.. I echo Michael's assessment, very tail happy. I wasn't overly impressed by the build quality to be honest, for $50K I would think it would feel more premium. But maybe this is Nissan or maybe 50 grand is the new 25 grand. The entire experience seemed like an old tech reskin to me. Window and heated seat buttons, for example, are circa 2003 350Z.

The Canadian list price for the upgraded model is $59,600.

This is a tough one for me. I think the current gen BRZ/86 gives you a dynamically similar driving experience (minus the HP) at a much more attractive price point. On the flip side the Supra gives you the German engineering and quality for not THAT much more. And it looks way better IMO.
The only way this was going to be a game changer is if the price was more competitive. Looking forward to driving one for sure.

I’m told a red car would come with seats that are trimmed in red with black inserts
Here is the blue
