Default STOLEN - Lexus RX 350 - had it less than a YEAR!

Yes I know, I was warned but my wife wanted and has always driven a Lexus. She wanted another and last night at 3 am it was gone. Yes, I had a RFID box and keys in the box religiously including a kill switch. Gone.
Police came and said "car is on the way likely to Montreal and in a container for Africa or Dubai etc ...doesnt matter where at this point. Hassle is what concerns me most. So whats next ? I have no idea ...A good buddy
is selling his 2018 Macan GTS w/ 28k km on the dial and may buy it - likely low $62k/$64k for it. Super clean one owner but likely will need to buy an extended warranty for $3200 ... not sure what I am going to do but the car is enticing.
Other option is a Tesla Y but not really feeling that - its her choice ...

Nevertheless, here we are - no more Lexus for me ... I am done. Have a super wk people because I intend to do so without the Lexus ! Ahh the Police said one night out of 55 division in Toronto - 125 cars stolen - one night !!

Toronto, the city I was born in - is no longer the city I recognize nor care to live in longer term. That's a separate matter altogether.

This city is changing big time - no doubt. One should keep a low profile…

I’m sorry to hear that man.. same thing with me and that was back in ‘19.. No more Lexus in the driveways since then.
Look at the bright side, you get to go car shopping..

That truly sucks

I suppose one of the problems with this type of vehicle is they are too quiet. I think if someone starts up a porsche sports car, or shows up with a tow truck you would hear it. Last night I was awakened by a mouse that had been caught by our "tin cat" in the attic. Hard to imagine thieves being quieter than a mouse. I suppose they could push it down the street

I have seen people use this in their own driveway.

Not sure how useful it is.

Heh, I bet that is decently effective, but man that would be a pain. "Hey, popping out to the store to grab milk". 20 minutes later you've finally turned on your car

Sorry to hear Abe - one the plus side your Cayman didn't get lifted but a royal pain in the back side I'm sure. If it makes you feel any better I did see a 'take down' on the EB 401 heading to Montreal a couple of months ago on what I believe was a stolen F-150. Why do I think it was stolen you ask: it was first thing in the morning and I saw the driver filling up at the enRoute station and he wasn't sure what side the gas cap was on and seemed uncertain of driving the truck when he guessed wrong and had to back up and switch sides. 10 minutes later 5 OPP cars had him on the side of the 401. Best of luck.

I live in Toronto. At our old house, Royal York/Bloor, my next door neighbour had 2 Lexus 350 stolen and just kept getting another one. Bought a Lexus 250 for his wife too. He was also a Toronto police officer and now runs a large security firm. Yet, keeps going back to the Lexus. I could never understand this.

One stolen up the street from me, likely a relay attack.

I never leave keys in the house when I am out for any time, and store them a long ways away from doors/walls when I am at home.

instead of the tire clamp, why not just pull a couple fuses/relays? guy at chrysler showed a friend how to do this, after his pickup was stolen.

Every other Lexus and Range Rover in my downtown Toronto neighborhood has been jacked .... One neighbor got his replacement Lexus and they jacked that one too !! Canada is free for the pickings because the right to defend is non-existent.

I miss Texas where I used to keep a 45 at the front door. Whenever you bought a new Smith & Wesson or Glock firearm you got decals for your front doors that read:

THE OWNER OF THIS PROPERTY IS ARMED AND PREPEARD TO PROTECT LIFE LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FROM A CRIMINAL ATTCK - THERE IS NOTHING IN HERE WORTH RISKING YOUR LIFE FOR.

No ADT needed .

Lots of interesting stats out there. Apparently, Canada is just slightly worse than Greece and the US

Much more brazen here especially the car jackings - largely unheard of in Greece. Toronto has become next level crazy of late.
