Luxury Tax is definitely putting a dent into high end car sales. More cars are now being exported to the Middle East which is now drawing the ire of the manufacturers so unless they start lobbying the Feds, this issue will become worse as the months go on.

I was offered two different C8 Z06 this week that are in stock as buyers backed out. Lux tax adds on $19k more to a 3LZ equipped car ($17k lux tax plus another $2,210 as its a tax on a tax therefore props up HST collected).

My 19 Carrera T was $118k plus tax and I can't believe how much these cars are now. Considered a 992 T but its near ridiculous how expensive a similar platform car is.

Yep. Just received my BOS on 2024 Z06 3LZ 'vert and lux tax was exactly that much. Ouch!

Indeed. See this: https://finder.porsche.com/ca/en-CA/...hip=1500002079

And this is a 4, not even 4S yet.

Yeah but that is just a stupid build. From that link you can click to see that car on the Porsche configurator... it is $236k on the Porsche site with the $21k luxury tax. $70k in options!!!

Check out one of the 48 used 2021+ Turbo variants available on porsche.ca.

I think anecdotally, that's a high number of cars 2 years old or newer. Turbos were super popular for a few years.

I am not going to buy any lux tax car and will not pay any kind of premium over MSRP. I first came across that nonsense many years ago on an R230 SL500. Demand was high and they were offered at $20-50k above . I just waited a year and paid list . Same silly stuff last year when I was thinking of trading my 2012 Wrangler in the US for a new one and the dealer wanted $30k extra.i still have my old Jeep.

i had ordered my Cayenne and 992RS with a deposit before the tax and paid list. Would have cancelled if I had to pay.

i do not need the latest and greatest and keep cars for a long time. However, Porsche pricing is now so high that the rising prices are only matched by tumbling house prices I am very unlikely to buy another.

I don't see myself ever buying a new Porsche at this point.

Porsche want to be the brand for the ultra wealthy .. i say let them have it .. they are positioned as VWs cash cow .. no heritage , just a very expensive marketing dept.

I say all the power to them . i'll drive my little air cooled and be happy with it.

Another usless entity. Those Duct Cleaning outfits and most telemarketers that cannot get a real job are calling from overseas.

But since they are not paying for my land-line or mobile phone, I reserve the right to be as rude as possible...and I am and loving it.

Exactly and when you go to some of the newer folders and see the issues owners are having, one has to wonder.

Mind you, I'll never sell my 993 and I have had zero issues (one simple coolant leak that I repaired myself) with my 991.1.

However, relative to other brands, Porsche sports cars are depreciation kings:

To determine that accurately they’d have to account for the absolute fleecing above msrp that it often requires to get at those hot models.

I don’t care for yellow, but this 2021 C4 with 11k km for $129k seems like a deal…

Be ultra polite, tell them you actually really need the service and hope their pricing is competitive. They will start asking for the square footage of your home, rooms and floors to get a quote. Let the call drag on, act confused about their questions but be polite. Then tell them you live in a condo. You may need to repeat this process for 2 or 3 more calls and they will never call again.

At the end of the day they are looking to sell, they will pull you off the list if it's a dead end. I was getting 3-5 calls a week at its worst. I haven't received an air duct call in years.

But here is a good one for everybody's amusement...

And this one is priceless as well...
