Paint meter reading should be something any detailed does prior to correction

it tells A LOT about the paint and if a repaint, it adds more clue as to any discrepancy

glad to hear shop is working with you …most shops that are customer-centered will do the right thing

May be a blend spot from a previous respray or repair. Very tough to level out(get perfect result) if that’s the case. They should have paused and contacted you while working on the car.

IMO they should have at least brought it to his attention when he picked up the car. sounds like this was not mentioned to him until he asked and only then they had a "meeting"?
and can we assume since no paint readings were discussed that Refinery does not use paint meters or at least did not use on this Porsche?
I have an elcometer if you want to get some readings pm me.

Thanks for the help everyone, and @Turbodan for offering your help. I'm learning a lot as I go, and it's really nice to have this community. Thought I should provide an update.

Took my car back to the shop, and the paint meter readings were ~110-120 around the rear panel, ~90 by the doors. So I don't know if some sort of work had been done there before, but doesn't seem like a repaint in which case the readings would've been much higher.

In any case, the car came back perfect. Pictures attached. Whatever it was, I'm glad it wasn't any permanent damage to the paint.
