Stuck accelerator in a modern 2022 car?

Wouldn't it be of the "fly by wire" type?

Wouldn't just using the brake pedal for a few seconds cut out the throttle input?

I'm thinking more of a medical problem with the driver and the foot went full throttle.

Fly by wire also means you could get full throttle without even stepping on the gas. I might try your throttle/brake next time I'm in the car. You'd also think a high end car like this would have automatic braking

Had a stuck throttle once....
1988 Nissan Pulsar SE
Was on the 401 close to my exit at Port Union rd...

Was a standard so took the car out of gear...and yes... revs shot up... key ignition off and coasted to a stop on the shoulder....

Didn't panic...

Kinda got myself settled down and wasn't sure what to expect... car started and never happened again..

The recall was for the pedal interfering with the interior panels when fully depressed and getting stuck.

That used to happen in my 6-speed 968 anytime I forgot to disengage the cruise control before shifting. Vroooooom, straight to the rev limiter. I was never sure if they just didn't bother with a switch to disengage cruise when the clutch was depressed, or if there was a clutch switch and it simply never worked. Quality was not what it is today, so I suspect the latter.

In automatic cars, at least until automakers decided that PRNDL was passe, you could simply hit the shifter with the palm of your hand to knock it into neutral. This works as late as the 9x1 cars, but does it still work with the shaver in the 992 generation? Wouldn't be surprised if Bentley came up with their own "solution" that removed this useful failsafe measure for no good reason.

The bizarre part is how far the car flew in the air.
Ever see a flatbed on the side of the road tilted and think how much fun it would be to use it as a jump? Maybe that's what happened. Was she holding his beer? lol

You obviously have not watched enough russian car crash videos on youtube. It doesn't take much to get a car airborne

Russian car crash videos are quite the YouTube rabbit hole. And Ring crashes/stupidity.

I assume on a 997 and older pulling the handbrake would just make it spin
Any modern vehicle has far more braking power and accelerative power. That's why they stop in a shorter distance than it takes to accelerate to the same speed. If your car has a stuck or runaway throttle just apply full brakes and it will come to a stop and then put it in park or turn it off (once stationary). The parking or "emergency" brake is significantly less powerful than the primary braking system. Just think about it, it's always an additional tiny calliper, sets the rear calliper or is an in-rotor drum that's minuscule as opposed to all four multi-piston callipers on a Porsche or Bentley.
