Insurance for your 911.

For a 2020 992 Carrera in Vancouver near Olympic Village, $3850/yr before discount with ICBC. With my $900 discount, I'll pay $2950 this year. That's the full discount as well.
Update: BCAA won't do an optional policy for my 911. Stuck w ICBC

Like tlvan2000, we have to use ICBC for our basic coverage but do have options with other insurers for any optional and additional coverages. I just spoke with BCAA yesterday and they will not insure most Porsches (with the exception of 718 models). So far, ICBC is the only quote I have and with a very robust policy, I was quoted $2100.

For the folks in BC, if your Porsche isn't on the newer spectrum (re: classic, as Porsche would call it) you can try Hagerty as an alternative for everything outside of the basic ICBC policy. They now sell their insurance products in BC.

In BC (Maple Ridge, 45km from downtown Vancouver) insurance for my 2019 911 Carrera T is just under $2100 if insured for the full year. That's pleasure use only (to/from work permitted 6 days/month), top discount (no claims and clean driving record), comprehensive with$300 deductible, and collision with $1000 deductible. ICBC has started offering "low mileage" discounts in the last year or two with the stipulation that your car remains insured with them for the full year. Storage insurance for a few months disqualifies this discount. Having said that, you can cancel your optional coverages while car is stored for winter which saves you some $$$ and keeps you qualified for the discount. At least that's the way my agent and myself see it. One year from now will paint the true picture.
For cars that qualify for "collector" plates, the savings can be massive. My 1997 993 C2 was under $600/year with the same coverage. With collector plates, you are NOT permitted to use the car for to/from work and/or school. Car must also be at least 15 years old for "low production" (under 1500 produced worldwide) or 25 years old otherwise.
I've gone down the route of optional coverages with independent providers and the savings, if any, was minimal.

Speaking of insurance, does anyone have a ~16 year old on their insurance policy? My son just got his G2 a couple weeks ago. I'm currently paying ~$4800 a year for 3 vehicles with 2 drivers. I just added him, that jumped to $16,800. Porsche is ~$1400 a year, the Volvo is ~$1600. The vehicle I put him on (they recommended the Tesla Model Y LR as cheaper than the Volvo XC60) is what caused the spike.
He's going to drive maybe 50km a week. But that doesn't seem to matter. I did a rates.ca thing, and came up with $22k a year as the best they could find.
That is obscene.

16 with a G2? kid should be in a 10 year old 4 door civic until they get their G and a few years of experience. insurance companies aren't stupid, they know the odds of a big payout in your circumstance.

I think insurance in a Civic would be just as much, if not, more.

I'm surprised your broker suggested the EV.. I obtained a quote for my pending Cyber Truck and Im considering canceling as the monthly cost equals a new car lease..

Just for sh*ts and grins, I removed the 911, added a 2014 Toyota Carolla in its place and made that his primary car.
Weird quote, since my wife is on the Tesla and is paying $1600/year right now with the same insurance company (CAA). But gives you a feel for the cost of insuring a 16 year old male on any car, regardless of torque.
