Tail of the Dragon
In a couple of weeks driving the 911 from Toronto to Tail of the Dragon and then Nashville for a round-trip road-trip. For those of you that have done this drive please share any driving and sightseeing tips. Thank you.

That sounds like an interesting trip. Id be interested in a few pointers when you got back .
I have a good Friend in Nashville and going to visit via the tail of the dragon sounds like a good trip.

done it twice - drive within your limits, enjoy yourself and look out for cops - i suggest watching lots of youtube tutorial videos also shows where the cops hide between state lines - personally there are better roads around there other than TOTD

I’m heading down for my annual boys trip on May 1.
There is planned repaving work starting first week of May on US129. Not sure how much it will affect you. The good news is that the Dragon is far from the best road down there.

Tail
I found the cherohala-skyway was a nicer drive.
The Tail of the dragon is 9 mins of intense driving.
It’s a good idea to have fresh brake fluid and power steering fluid.
Drive in control and in your lane. It’s pretty tight and really bad things can happen when you drift out of your lane. Lots of motorcycles!
Most Importantly… do not add to “The Tree of Shame!”

Did a bunch in that area but on a motorcycle. Many great roads. Makes ours just sad.

As for the dragon... try to do it early or late. It gets busy in the peak hours.
Highly recommend staying at Tapoco lodge... perfect location for the dragon.

One of my favourite places to go. A buddy of mine goes 2-3x a year with his Z4. Just amazing roads.
Unfortunately the drive down is a bit ho-hum down I-75, but its worth it!

Did it a couple times with a motorcycle. (trailered down)
1st time I had 'fried okra' and boiled peanuts.
we stayed at tapaco lodge as well (2006)

And another vote.
I did this run back in 2013. My old 85 never had to work so hard, still one of the most memorable runs I have done.

The picture in my sig was taken on the skyway, there were photogs taking pictures of the cars as they went buy then I got my shot from a website that they post on. I was hauling ***.
Here are some of the shots.
