Wow, it will be tough to go from that to a minivan. That's probably the car I want most right now out of anything out there, and it's the right colour too! It would be hard to justify trading up from my S4 though, since it is only for winter duty.
Good luck with the sale!

Yeah, even though VW is now mostly owned by Porsche, that thing is more like a Chrysler, given that they make it in Windsor at the same plant. But hey, once you decide on a minvan, you really aint got much choice!

Merc GL450. Pig on gas, but looks nice! And, kidding aside, has a decent wheelbase to tow the 24' ATC I have, without the tankslapping you get on a shorter wheelbase SUV.

Some of the parts on that car actually look like the same pieces found on my Wife's Grand Caravan.

Actually, funny enough, my wife bought it and pays for her own insurance. But I have to tell you, I am not one of these guys that feels belittled by a minivan. I have three kids and it is the best purchase we have ever made. It is ultra convenient for camping and everyday kids taxi service. I use it to tow my snowmobile as well. They may not be the best looking cars, but they are super functional and useful.

yep. I hear ya. We have 3 little ones too and figuring out that the GL just aint as practical as a minivan could be, particularly for the "taxi" chores.

We succumbed to the pressure as well and have a bread box in the driveway. Ended up with a Hyundai Entourage. It was $11,000 off if we paid cash. Couldn't find anything else that came close on a feature or safety basis. I figured it was a more efficient use of capital than spending twice as much on an equivalent Toyota or Honda.
My kids still prefer the 911 as school tranport but I will admit that for sheer utility you can't really beat vans, especially when the kids are small and travel with so much clobber.

Courtney at Autowerks will be babysitting the RS4 for me for 2 weeks starting tomorrow while I'm outta town. Anyone who'd like a look, please give him a ring (905-850-7600) or pop up to the shop at 400 and Langstaff.

Fryd, you could have traded in the RS4 for a nice Audi wagon or the Q7 but I see the GL450 is quite capable as well.
Mini vans have their place but I am not a mini van guy, so when my kids came along I said no to the mini van. We wound up with a Toyota Camry Wagon (I hear some chuckling in the back ground) but I gotta say it has been the best car I ever owned. My youngest is now past the mini van stage and I still drive a wagon albeit a BMW now because I love the utility.
