I am a new member, in Nova Scotia, currently without a Porsche but actively looking. I think that it is time, I have done the research and think that I "need" a 1998 993, preferably a C2S coupe in black/black. Although it will be a driver I want a low mileage example in excellent, original condition.
They seem to be somewhat hard to find and the longer I look the more expensive they seem to be getting!
Any help/hints would be much appreciated. I have also considered a Ferrari for the next acquisition but given where i live I think that for servicing the 993 would be more practical. From what I understand the 993 should be fairly robust and I should get years of fun with routine maintenance.
Looking forward to participating on the list.

An excellent choice no doubt .. i think I saw an add in the provinz for a 993 to be sold .. I will look it up and pass it along .. Have you considered shopping in the US for your car ? lots of info here about importing.

Welcome. I second the look south. Here is one just posted on Pelican:
It's not black but only 27K miles. In Connecticut. Link: Pelican Classified

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought the Jag in the US but with the 993 being relatively recent and the duty associated and reading about paying a "Porsche fee" of $1500 I was wondering if this would offset any savings that I would realize with the cheaper US prices and our CDN$ being at par.
There are certainly more choices south of the border!

Are there any differences between US and CDN cars other than the obvious miles vs kilometres? There seems to be a nice 993 in Toronto at Segal Motorcars. Know anything about it or Segal?

i know Segal but have never bough there .. others may chime in .. a US car will probably need DRLs, ( daytime running lights. ) but lets face it , they are all built by hanz in the fatherland , so differences are minor...

Segal has great cars. his prices are always top dollar and recently way out of touch. but the cars are great...mostly from the states.
the states has much better selection of cars that have many more options and many that have never been in freezing temperature let alone driven with salt.
If I were you I would spend a little more and get a turbo (not much more $ than a c2s).
the $1200 I believe is only if you need warranty.
based on the cars in your sig...you are going to love the pcar and will wonder why you waited so long...don't get me wrong I have a soft spot for British but they don't compare.
good luck. with winter here and the us dollar tanking you are in the drivers seat.

Hey guys, looks as though I have my P-car. Just the details (sending the money!) and I should have it in my garage in NS next weekend! Can't wait. BTW - had a PPI a Pfaff and it was just as described by Jeffrey at Segal according to the service guy. Thanks for all the help - hope to be posting more soon.

Just a thought for Canucks who are looking to import a 993: the '95s are, or soon will be, in the RIV's +15 year exemption period (based on the date of manufacture). So you are spared much of the processing hassle and some fees. Also, the dollar's been creeping up again.
Another bonus is that the early '95's don't have the dreaded immobilizer. True, you don't get VarioRam, but for many that's a non issue.
And congratulations, arjag
