OK. Say I have nothing & have no clue about racing/driving sims. What is the minimum investment I have to make to get a decent setup? Wheel, pedals, gaming machine & game? PS3 vs XBox vs PC. I know nothing.

PS3 doesn't really have a race game of of quality until GT5 comes out in March

Xbox Setup
199.99 console 60 gb hard drive
34.99 Nyko Intercooler
99.99 xbox wheel (wheel can be used on PC with a 59.99 adapter)
59.99 1 year subscription to play online
34.99/69.99 head set/wireless head set
optional for best appearance HDMI cable or SVGA cable adapter
69.99 Forza 3

PC
727.99 PC Capable to play any Racing game out there at 1080p resolution ,maxed out settings
210.00 Logitech G25 Wheel (the wheel is 25x better then the xbox wheel and can be used on Sony's PS3)
19.99 GTR2
iracing membership (see iracing.com)
optional Bluetooth/USB head set because not all games support voice

PS3 (also is a Blue Ray player)
299.99 console 120GB hard drive
210.00 Logitech G25 Wheel (the wheel is 25x better then the xbox wheel and can be used on Sony's PS3)

HDMI cable
Free online play

The TV/Montitor should do 1080p
Racing seats can also be used across any of the setups

Thanks, Greg.

Now the question: Which is the desert island system? If you could only have one . . .

That said, the PC system is the most approachable. I need a new PC anyway.

No console game has come close to the Sim Racing of GTR2 and iRacing (check out the track list available no console game has this many tracks)

If this was 2-3 years ago I would say go for the Xbox. But with GT5 coming out in March and a Blue Ray player. The PS3 is by far the better system. GT5 may well actually as good as a sim as GTR2 but with 100x better graphics.

if you are going 360 you pretty well have to go elite these days i would imagine. the arcade version has no hard drive and no hdmi. The middle unit is discontinued and the elite has the 120 gig drive.

Yup, the PS3 is a better media centre too, especially for audio/video formats.

Greg,

Once I power through career mode I'll play you, I think I just reached lvl 35.

okay figured out this out.

If you go to storefront > my store front > then hit Y > view friends store front> then you can browse their replays and setups and stuff.

Pretty cool.

I've been trying to find the limited edition for sale - can't seem to find it at best buy/future shop/eb games/game stop.

Any hints on where I can pick it up?
