It was paddle shift and really nice on the down shift, Upshifts were suggested at 6000 -7000 rpm, although I found myself shifting on motor sound and that was more like 5000. The car always felt settled and braking was excellent. Power came on smooth and there was lots of it. I found the car very easy to drive and would love to track it for a day, or forever. In the last lap I got on it a bit early and the back came a bit loose but I stayed on it and traction control sorted it out. It was a blast.

I started working on my own car as soon as I got home.

Today at the GTG folks asked about the project. It's too cold and I have to fix a bad seal on the lift hydraulics before anything else. But here's a couple of snapshots that show how far it's come along.

In my mind this is how I picture Jim during the initial fire-up.

Looking forward to it being completed!

This winter has been a killer for any DIY work - for me at least

Insulate those doors and get a heater. Winter is the best time to wrench, that way you can drive in the summer.

Thanks for asking. I got the headers and had to re-re-build the engine mounts to get the clearance needed. Thats settled and today bought a couple of exhaust parts and tomorrow off to the tube bender, then it's weld it all together. I found a painter and a spray booth for rent and figure early July for coming out.

Are you painting the whole car or just the front?

Everything except the roof. Both sides had some dings so I fixed those too.

UPDATE; At Saturdays meet folks asked for an update. A lot of time went into it over the summer and the exhaust is completed. Right now waiting on a bunch of Vibrant fittings for the dry sump hoses and then on to the water hoses. I would have that done by now except my daughter asked if the Jeep would be OK for her commute to Hamilton. It wasn't and that became a full time three week project. Here's a couple of before and after shots of that project and a couple of pics of the project.
