Default GTA Exotics - Questionable Ethics? (RESOLVED - see last post ;) )

Anyone know these guys at GTA Exotics?

GTA Exotics are reneging on their deal with the Yorkville Exotic Car Show and the charity we supported.

“You spoke to my brother Greg and we will be bringing 2-3 cars and paying $750.00 you asked to advertise. Count us in 100%.” - Stu Wilson
They made a deal, showed up late with tales of break-downs, parked an orange Lamborghini under my paid-security and protection and handed out marketing material. They said they had mailed me a cheque, for which I said they could continue to hand out pamphlets but then after the show when no cheque arrived, they said they cancelled it and will not be paying.

If anyone has any info on GTA Exotics from past experiences or contacts with influence with them I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Was there a set date to receive the cheque? I believe the Canada Post Strike was still ongoing during that week. Nonetheless, you would have received it by now.

Did they offer an explanation for cancelling the cheque and refusing to pay?

Did they offer an explanation for cancelling the cheque and refusing to pay?
When I saw them soliciting customers within the confines of my road closures I confronted one of the owners (Stewart Wilson) and asked him what he was doing. He claimed they arrived late because of a "breakdown" and set-up right in between my Paddock Club and the Bellair Street entrance. I said he never properly registered the cars for the event and also didn't return multiple phone calls and e-mail the week before.

He blamed the office staff and said "We had a deal!" and that a cheque had been mailed. I gave him the benefit of doubt and let him park there, on the wrong side of the road, facing in the wrong direction and under the protection of my paid-duty police and security where he continued to solicit clients for the rest of the afternoon.

It wasn't until after the event and postal strike, when no cheque arrived that I e-mailed them and got this reply from someone by the name of Sahel (Sara):

"the cheque was cancelled. you made mention we were not listed for the show and we were not in the show."

Mr. Downe,

I was a volunteer for the show and I experienced first-hand the questionable appearance of GTA exotics. I felt uncomfortable when I saw flyers being handed out to anyone who walked by and the thick seat covers covering the Lambo seats. If GTA exotics wants to tarnish their own reputation and not resolve the issue, perhaps extend an invite to one of their competitors to appear next year.

I'm trying to reason with them, but Stewart Wilson and Greg Wilson aren't returning calls and I'm left to deal with this office clerk, Sara, Sehel or whatever her name is. She won't identify herself. Apparently she's watched a few episodes of Boston Legal and thinks she's a contract lawyer.

We'll see if they make the cheque deadline of 5PM on July 8.

Thanks for the support though.

Cheers,

Wow, that's incredible that they would go that far to save $750....they sound like dishonest scumbags.

If you visit their operation in Oakville and see the "hack-shop", you will understand what kind of operation they run.

I have heard nothing but bad experiences of people renting their cars in bad repair and hidden fees apron returning the cars ! I think some bad press for ripping off a charity might be in order!
