Default Why is everyone selling their car?

A quick look through the thread titles here shows a lot of FS posts. What's going on? Is the economy that bad? Or are people actually getting sick of P-cars? Perish the thought!

I think values are going up (in the 993's for example) and some sellers/owners want to capture that, and then buy a different Porsche.

Really? Values for SCs and 3.2s are at an all-time low. You can get into a very nice SC in the states for under $15k. I've seen some as low as 10. Even longhood values are down a bit. I don't really watch the 993 market, so maybe that's going in the opposite direction. But certainly for the older ones it's a buyer's market.

993's (mainly wide bodies and turbos) are on the upswing. Some very nice examples here have sold, and set some pretty nice high water marks.

If I ever plan to sell, probably in 2013. I'll only be buying another Porsche.

993 prices are up in the US, but they are definitely down on Canada...and very few buyers over $50K here.

Problem is $10-15$K cars can have $10-$15K worth of problems. They may age, but their maintanance requirements are still the same. You need to REALLY like the car to risk owning an older one that will require repairs that can exceed the value of the car. (do it yourself folks excluded)

Who was it that mentioned that older Boxsters are kind of disposable because of the risk of IMS failure repairs vs the value of the car.
