Default Winter project

The guys at SCB are helping me with a little winter project. I thought you guys might like to see some of the progression. Here's a couple of pics of step one - Getting the car ready for a full cage, roof replacement, glass replacement, and a few other tweaks to shed a bit of weight.

Before starting this project the car was at 3185lbs. I'm not sure where we will end up, but less is good! Current suspension is KWv3s. The plan for phase 2 is JRZ. We're not sure about wheel size yet, but it currently has 18x12 rear and 18x10 front. More to come!

2004. I've been taking weight off the car gradually over the last year, all the easy stuff. We are now moving to the tougher and more expensive bit. As an example, taking the sunroof off and installing a carbon fibre roof is a change from 65lbs to 8lbs.

Love what you are doing, but wouldn't it be easier to just trade for a gt3?
any mods to the brakes btw? I assume a/c staying in? I have heard the ac cools the fuel lines and improves hp while on track.
wipers and linkage coming out?
what are the weight saving changing out the glass? should be considerable.

For that, the AC would have to be on all the time at the track. The 928s had this but I think it was to reduce the chance of vapour lock in extremly hot environments.

The GT3 and 996 Cup car conversation was had many times over a 3 month period. In the end, I opted for something that would be more unique and built to my spec. Plus....one very special bit about the Turbo, this thing has around 600hp

AC is long gone. It came out in the summer. The brakes have been upgraded. They came off a GT3, 6 pots up front, 4 pots rears with 350mm rotors.

Sorry, missed the other questions. Not sure of the actual weight difference of the glass vs. plastic. But picking up the windshield, it is very light. At this point, the wipers are staying...

I doubt a 996 cup will keep up to it. Though they are what 2600 lbs? Not sure you'll get to that.

2600 would be very tough to get to, maybe impossible. I know a US turbo that's in the 2700 pound range. Time and budget will be the determining factors. I need a raise

Cups or rsrs don't have 600 tq and hp on tap though. 2800 would be amazing!
