Memories of my 944
#31
I guess there will always be automotive preferences that are based on individual experiences and technical expertise, so I can understand where you may be coming from iceman. Personally, other than basic tuning capabilities, I'm not a DIY technician so my 944s are serviced by a well known Porsche technician in Newmarket who has made it utterly clear over the years that I could NOT afford to maintain a 911. Although I've been lucky enough to not require an engine rebuild, the highest single repair bill to any of my 944s was $1,600 for a new Sachs clutch. Other than the obvious diligent preventative maintenance that is pinnacle to owning any vintage car that you drive daily, the Porsche 944 is truly one of my favorite toys that is maintained on my beer budget.

Very nice car. I love Guards Red.
Porsche owners have their own secret language. For example . What colour is your car ? Guards, nice, mine`s Arctic. Sweet. My friends 986 is Balsamic.

Lol ...so true. I remember (many years ago) the first few weeks of my employ with the Pfaff body-shop, I wasn't familiar with the massive roster of Porsche models and was getting frustrated with the new lingo ...I constantly heard comments like "go grab that Arctic 997 on the lot" or "pull in the Guards 996" ...I remember thinkin' WTF is an Arctic 997? I thought they were 911s or Carreras! In all of the body-shops I've ever worked in, if my boss said "go out and grab that blue Fleetwood" I'd go out the door and find a blue Fleetwood.
