OT: Too much for a garage door and opener?
I won't yet reveal the supplier, but I was quoted $3000 for a steel, fully insulated, glass window, black enamled door (14 x7 ft) and Lift master, belt drive, 1/2 hp, opener. Fully installed, lifetime warranty.
Is it me, or is that a bit high?

1 yr ago had a 12*8 lift master chain drive, 1/2 HP,steel with vinyl cladding(beige outside, white inside), insulated, inside & outside key pad, 2 remotes $ 1800 cash. Additionally paid for 6 - 1'*2' windows- $50 each. So far so good. I live in Toronto (high park). My bricklayers friend- really good job.

I was quoted $1200 for a single, door only installed, so a double plus a lift master, 3 k doesn't sound to far off. Is that all in or plus tax?

My 2 cents but that actually sounds like a great price, the door being 14x7 and insulated with glass isn't cheap. The black enamel colour application during the construction process adds cost as well.
I use Homestars as an estimate proxy given the type of work I need to get done as most reviews include the cost paid as well.

Don't know the height of the garage but if you can/plan to install a lift someday you might want to have the door go up to (and along) the ceiling. This would require a jackshaft (side mounted) lift. They're not much more price wise.

RK, Did the fellow see what was in the garage before he provided you a quote? Maybe find your old Hyundai Pony and park it in there and ask for another quote.
