Newly acquired 996.2 C4S Cobalt Blue
Hey guys, thought I would formally say hello after picking up my first Porsche about 5 weeks ago. I've been forum member for a long time but just made my first post a couple weeks ago, and of course became a paid member. The knowledge shared here is well worth the $40 every two years.
I live in the Hamilton area and travelled to Ottawa to buy the car from a fellow Rennlist'er Alin aka Topaz330ci. 110k KM on it, and in absoutely mint condition inside and out. Buying an enthusiast-owned car was one of two 'musts' on my list; the other was it had to be a cool color; no black / silver / grey. Luckily this came up right at the perfect time. It had a brand new clutch, flywheel, RMS and set of tires when I bought it, and Alin provided me a folder an inch thick of every single service bill / part receipt since new. I even have the original window sticker.
A really cool bonus with this car is that it suffered an IMSB failure while in its warranty period in late 2005, and Porsche replaced the engine with the 2006 MY revised motor with the larger, much more reliable IMS bearing (which cannot be retrofitted without splitting the case). All fully documented by Porsche in the paperwork package I received.
I've been a German car guy for a while now (Audi, two BMW's and still have an F30 335i M-Sport as my DD); but two years ago I was in Germany for work and long story short, our German headquarters surprised us with a trip to the Leipzig factory and test track, where they had the track privately booked for us for half a day, with a fleet of new 991 C2S and C4S waiting for us. We spent 4 hours hotlapping in 20min sessions. That's about the time I became a Porsche man lol.
Loving the car so far, with about 2,000km driven since I bought it 5 weeks ago. It's strictly a weekend / sunny day car for me but with this spring that's been pretty much every day almost!
I am / will continue DIY'ing this car as much I can using this Rennlist & Pelican information. So far I've cleaned the radiators and AC condensers, replaced the turn signal stalk, replaced the motor mounts with Function First semi-solids, replaced the stock exhaust with B&B catback, 15mm spacers on the rear and replaced the oil pressure sender unit. Everything a piece of cake so far and the car runs and drives like I assume it did new.
Anyways, there's my intro. I hope to meet up with some fellow GTA / Hamilton RL'ers in the near future to drink coffee and talk cars.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks fellas, indeed it's a great color. My 335i is Estoril Blue II so my neighbors and family think it's odd I'd pick another equally eye-popping blue car. What can I say, bright metallic blues kick ***.

My buddy is cutting open & gutting the OEM cans for me. Once I have them back, I will throw them on and see how it sounds. If I like it, perfect - I get to use the OEM tips (which were $750 on the build sheet by the way, crazy anyone would option them regardless of the fact they look great) and I'll sell the B&B system. If it sounds like shiat, I'll sell the oem tips locally and pitch the stock cans in the trash.

Thanks! The build sheet shows Cobalt Blue as a $3000 option so I think that explains why there are not many out there. The previous owner received info from PCNA that only a couple (literally) of 996 Cobalt C4S were sold in Canada. So happy I was able to find this car.
