On race cars with ITB's the system is very similar. You have to run a catch can like you tried for the vent line, but it has to be vented. Otherwise you are pressurizing a sealed container which will inadvertently pressurize the crank case, and force oil to leak. If that makes any sense... The lines need to come in the top of the tank. You could vent the tank to atmosphere, or you could run it into an airbox with vacuum, which you don't have...
Yep, I understand all that now, and yes, that's exactly what happened - pressurizing the crank case and forcing oil out. What a mess - I should rechristen my car the Exxon Valdez! I drilled a vent hole and that slowed the leak considerably, but it's still leaking pretty badly from the flywheel seal.

Only had a few hours in the garage yesterday, just enough time to get the engine out and tranny separated. Didn't feel like working on it today, so I'll finish it up on Sunday. I'm out for tomorrow anyway - totally forgot it's the same day we have to pick up my daughter at camp in Haliburton. It's her first sleep-away camp, so I really want to be there to pick her up.

It's too bad - I still haven't visited the Oakville dealership yet!

Zook just told me, I'll try to make it and not spill all my water cooling everywhere.

Many thanks to Jakob for putting this together. Great morning out. And the weather co-operated.

If anyone has video of cars leaving the dealership, I'd love to hear/see my car in action. Send me a PM.

Thanks again.

Great time, and the weather cooperated. Thanks to our organizer, and to Porsche Centre Oakville. It was a really great mix of 911s, every generation, stock, modified, hardcore RS' to cabrios. Good stuff.
