Considering Golf R to replace C4S as DD
#16
Just got rid of my Mini Cooper and purchased a 2016 GTI. Great car for the money. Base GTI under $30000. Hard to find a two door manual but was patient. No regrets.

Drove the new JCW and Cooper S...just not the same...
Loving the responses...I need professional help. Might get another R8...

Don't make my mistake(s)...I've tried the sensible route twice:
997 C4 to Audi S4
&
991 C2S to BMW M2
Guess what I'm driving now? Back into my 991 Carrera. Sensible only works if you've never owned a 911. Once you've owned a 911 your toast...

For 210 hp and 258ftlbs its hard to beat a GTI. Owed 2006 Subaru. Worst car I ever owned. In 8 years of ownership and 170000klms - $10000 in repairs. Never again.

I traded a 2012 R8 V10 manual I bought new on the 2011 GT3. I'm trying to buy it back from the guy that has it now...not going well...

I'd vote sell the 360 and C4S and get a new 911TT or GT2 to daily, add roof racks...my GT2 is my summer 'daily'
If ^ a no go, go for a Subi over the VW...WRX/STi are fun drivers and very reliable/low run cost

Did you just turn 18 and your friends don't respect you because the Porsche ain't cool. I see no reason to have a Golf R as a DD, maybe a Golf TDI but a R is just very immature.

TDi doesn't have the same chassis feel. I wish they offered the GTD in Canada...a GTi chassis with TDI engine. That said...they're not offering any TDIs at the moment ;-)
I tried the new Mini and it's just not the same. Kinda like how the 991 isn't the same...

We ordered a 2017 Golf R for my wife replacing her Mercedes B class, should be here in Oct/Nov and I'm looking forward to it. I'll admit I influenced the decision too, I drive her car a fair bit on the weekends to run errands etc and I needed something more exciting vs the utilitarian nature of the B250. She was onboard though and she enjoyed test drives of the GTI and Golf R... as did I, the Golf R is a rocket!
