Default Considering Golf R to replace C4S as DD

It's been a while since I've driven a GTi but I remember loving it. Thinking about the Golf R as a DD instead of the C4S. Maybe keep the C4 as a weekend car and sell the 360...I have serious car ADD...

Opinions? Slander? Nonsensical musings to share?

its a great car.
The looks dont inspire me but overall its a great package and would make a great daily. If you are looking to move your c4s to weekend duty the R is a real solid DD choice imo.

If you're into trading a Porsche for a hot hatchback, I'd do an STi or a Focus RS instead.

Sell C4S, buy 991 turbo for daily, sell 360 when the ACR comes. Then buy a P14 when it's avail.

yeah STi is fun to mod and the add-on are easily 60% less than the same component for a 911. I have one for the winter months currently dyno'ed at 267WHP/320WTQ and it will add roughly 20whp and 25 ft-lb of wtq when I put in a hi-flow cat this winter

I have the MK6 Golf R as my daily, its' a fun little car and great in the winter. I am not sure if it's a good move to trade in a C4S for it, I daily my R and drive my C2S on weekends.

The R can be modded easily too with some chip tuning, do a search at all those 400+hp Golf R posts on different VW forums.

The MK7 R is suppose to be quite an improvement over the last generation. I know of a few P car salesman who own them as daily

STi has a higher residual than a Golf R, from my research and STi experiences.

I just got a new golf R with 6 speed manual 2 weeks ago as DD. At one point I thought of getting 996 c4s instead but I was scared of scored cylinders if I drive it in the winter. The R is really fun and it comes with all kinds of great features. I love the adjustable electeonic damper especially when I am driving on Gardiner

Madness!!!

I have often tried the practical route for a DD with a "lower" level car. The first time was with a Subaru WRX. I ended up getting out of the lease after one year for a 997 Carrera Cab. The second time is now with a Merc. C400, in which I am getting out of the lease early to get a Targa. Both times I ended the lease early I had to pay a penalty. The Golf R is an amazing car, but it's not a 911, and the value of your 360 has most likely bottomed out, with little to no depreciation in the future. But best of luck with your decision!

Great car, but you'd trade a C4S for it????
