Default New Menu

We think it might help with navigation on the site if we changed the menu from appearing on the left hand side when you visit forums.rennlist.com instead of on the left hand side as it does currently.

What do you think?
Top one is the concept
Bottom is the current.

Thanks!

I really like the left hand navigation bar. It's easy, and always there. The drop down menus are more of a pain in most sites I've been to.

I don't even use the menus at all, just go directly to the forums listing, much faster and no javascript menus to worry about.

If you add the top menu you'll just clutter the screen and slow things down. Say NO to menus!

I fear change, the familiar is comfortable and the current format is just fine with me.

The frame based layout with left navigation is outdated, and a waste of display space. The top navigation that only pops-out when needed is a much better option.

I'd love to see this change! Trying to browse this site on my Blackberry sucks because of the menu bar on the left. Less clutter is always good imo.

The change would help the size challenged folks that have small monitors. It would be nice here at work where I'd love to have that extra 2 inches lost to the side bar.

OTOH I can't stand change.

...and where are the adds going to be in the new ones?

I don't use the menus at all, I bookmark: https://rennlist.com/forums/ and I go right to the forums.

But I agree, drop down menus tend to be problematic, especially with frames.

+1 with shmark.
Menus are never as easy to use (for user) as they are for designer!

What shmark said, except my shortcut goes directly to the 928 forum. It is easy to back up and browse from there using the links along the top, when desired.

I vote top down which seems to be more the standard now. I use frameless ether way.

I have to say that this is the only sit that I visit that has the left hand menu, every other has the across the top (the new concept)...

For me across the top...

Leave the forum as it is in my opinion.

It always seems like an old friend when i visit and that it being familiar is part of the charm of Rennlist as a community not a business.
