I'll check the alignment in case on bolt wasn't all the way in. Hard to image though. Also, the early years didn't have a bracket, the starter bolts directly to the bell housing.

OB Water Pump Replacement

Water pump started leaking so have removed. Seems impeller has been touching block and a small amount of metal has been removed. How serious is this?

Randy, when you refer to fuel check valve, do you mean the one on the discharge side of the external pump?
