This works as long as your rulebook only requires you to kill the engine. But most rulebooks say you must isolate the battery AND kill the engine I believe.

Exactly this. Wide track front end provides some improvement in tracking, and a significant improvement in turning radius. Higher capacity tires and GVRW/GCRW rated towing.
