Congratulations. I did the same. P. O had the timing belt pulled off. Then left the car sitting like that for 8years. After spinning the engine by hand. I felt no compression. So off came the heads...

I noticed that a Porsche dealership in Atlanta can still get the post 89 airbag dashboard.

Is there anyone that sells the pre airbag boards for a reasonable price?

On an 87 s4. There isn't a gold plug on the ignition side by the steering column. Drill that off center towards the steering wheel and driver's door with a small 16 inch drill bit into it drops in....

Well there you have it folks. Best to buy one that fits your car. Only reason why I would want the limited slip is to have two wire tires burning versus one 😁

Thermostat

Did you replace the thermostat also? Sounds like you have air trapped.
You could try to run the engine again keeping the reservoir cap off to see if any air can come out. Or remove the temperature...
