The rattle (at least in my car) is from the air...

The rattle (at least in my car) is from the air deflector not the switch. It rattles in the pocket it slips into, I can stick my finger in there and stop it or just close the roof a little.

My money is still on no injector pulse, Did you try getting a NOID lite and checking the injector harness...

Mine stopped working in my 93, I checked everything and found no bad grounds or blown fuse. I ended up moving the lite from the cigarette lighter to the temp gauge.
It does not come on every time...

it's not the R/P, it's the miss-adjusted bearing that fails. If it's not to far gone you can replace just the bearing and race (with the correct preload this time).
