I really don't know the type of pads-prior owner stated "racing" type and as a result of this type, expect squeal. Never had that issue on any other sport's car. But......

I bought my 993 with "new" pads and rotors. They have always squeaked and now the rotors/brakes have a shimmy at 45 after braking-then goes away. No other shimmy spots in the speed...

Mine is an 06 as well, no CDC. The wires were pushed behind the well. Both connectors has foam wrapping. Just stick your hand in there and you will feel them.

I run Nitto 255's on 18" wheels for my Cayenne. I use it for hunting and farm work quite a bit.

18's are really not what you need for 4x4 applications but I have yet to see a good 15/16" steel...

Just try and take the time to clean it. ALL of that residue will come off and the contacts for the button can be cleaned with an electronics cleaner/lube like for electronic switches and pots
