also try changing your trans lube.. when was that...

also try changing your trans lube.. when was that changed last? If you do change it make sure the fill plug comes out first before the drain..

does the gauge peg to 5 with the key on but...

does the gauge peg to 5 with the key on but engine not running? If it does the sensor is not working. Thus a false gauge reading. car not running gauge should read zero. not sure if the light works...

I had this exact same thing on a toyota PU after a head gasket blow. redid the top end. Found out after new radiator and t stat and things that The rings were shot and the blow by from the pistons...

the whine is from the ring and pinion. Now that yours is fully engaged it will get quiter in time. But not all the way.. the torque tube relays a lot of noise..

The torque tube will be resting against the spare tire well when its back far enough. to do this torque tube will be upside down. hooks will be on top. I had to turn mine 90 degrees with the torque...

tapping noise is common the injectors make this noise. try running some injector cleaner. maybe you got a stuck injector flooding a cylinder or 2.. or maybe were not opening at all..
