Been a while but just to close this out .... the pinging was resolved with the SW chip.

The chip causing the pinging was a POWERCHIP.

Just remember not to install the front speakers in the OEM location. Sounds pretty bad with a speaker in a floppy door card.

Fortunately it can be screwed into the door ......

Tried taking my DME boards (ECU under the seat) to a TV repair guy to checked for cracked solder joints.

Fixed! Amazing.

I dont think this is the cause of your problem, but make sure you do a system adaptation each time you reconnect the battery.

I had 10ET40 with 265 tyres and it required max -2 degrees neg camber plus a slight lip roll and fender flare.

1. there is a good chance it could be dodgy solder joints, so I took my DME board to a local TV/electronics repair...

when you say "in general looked pretty good" ... are you actually measuring parts, or just a subjective assessment from an untrained eye?
