Yesterday, while visiting a P dealer, I saw a 2006 test car parked there which happened to be passing through. It was a 997 with wide rear fenders. The car was not a turbo. It had all wheel drive. The interior was the same as a regular 997. The VIN indicated a 2006 model. We couldn't tell if it was an 'S' model, but it was probably not; the brake calipers were just black, and the exhaust tips were the same as the non-S 997. The door sills said "Carrera 4". The front bumper was no different than other 997s. The wheels looked like the 5-spoke ones on the Turbo spy pics. They had winter tires on them. Sorry, but I didn't have a camera. It was noticably wider, and even noticable from the side. Pretty cool

Had a 997 S blow by me on 580 in Pleasanton - nice looking... from the back, since that's all I saw of him

im waiting for the turbo...its worth the wait...im #4 on the list here in Boston....hopefully they start taking official orders next summer for late 2006 deliveries....

wow, is that really wide? i can't tell just lookes like a debadged 997 base

It was definitely wide - wider than a normal 997. In the flesh it was noticable.

The pictures aren't really distorted or stretched. The picture shot straight on the rear end is exactly what it looked like - really wide.
