Default Best short shifter?

I am thinking about installing a short shifter, which brand is the best? The schnell seem to be the cheapest, anyone has experience with it?

I think they are all pretty close, I have a B&M and coould'nt be happier, The only thing I will suggest is to stay away from the Factory OEM SS, not because its bad quailty, its not , it really is a B&M made part....Its just way to much money...

I find the schnell ss for $158 only, and in the description it said, "...unlike our competitor’s shifters which position your hand in an awkward grip." Do the B&M has awkward grip position? here is the link for the schnell:

Sales babble would be my guess. My B&M has no problems...works great.

If your car is still under warranty I would consider the OEM SSK, they have sold for $300-350 new on ebay. At that price delta, it's a good buy especially when you consider the cost of a new transmision. If not, get the B&M, it IS the same shifter without a Porsche part number.

I have the b&m under car kit and like it a lot. Paid $200 from Brandywine.

I love my B&M but I kind of think they are all B&M. Even the Schnell with the german name and the made in Japan looks a lot like if not exactly like the B&M but a different color.

I have OE on my 04 TT cabriolet. The B&M on my 03 TT was a little notchy to me. B&M is kind of fun though because it like clicks into place. Stock is very smooth. The throw may be a little longer in OE, but I am happier with the OE than I was with the B&M.

Someone said the stock was the same as B&M, but I don't think that is true. I sold my 03 TT to the Porsche service manager at my dealership. He took the B&M out and put the stock short shifter in. Not sure why he would have done this if they were the same. They also do not feel the same.

FWIW, the only difference is the bushings used, plastic-porsche, metal-BM.
The best shifter is the BM, however the best one to get if your car is under warranty is the OEM.

We've put them all in and the only one I _dislike_ is the style that bolts to the transmission. I just don't seem to like it at all. We've taken "off" a few and always replaced them with the B&M "in-car" shifters instead. Those are my favorites...

Why is that, Alex?
