Manthey Racing exhaust
Hello,
I just have to start of with saying, great forum
I am searching for a GT3 and am thinking of changing to a sport exhaust. I have heard many good things about Manthey Racing, anyone here with experiences? Is their exhaust a europipe exhaust? Anyone tried their carbonfibre airintake?
I have also spoken to RUF, Gemballa and TechArt about exhausts but havn´t heard any sound clips. What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Hi Matrox,
I have just been in contact with Manthey Motors (Jan) about the same, since many of my Swedish friends have actually had their cars set up with various parts at Manthey's facilities at the Nurburgring. Below is a reply from Jan.
QUOTE
Dear Johannes,
Regarding the exhaust: We only use Europipe for certain systems because they are not able to deliver what we need in time and quantity for best-selling models like GT3 etc. We cooperate with a small German supplier who is manufacturing all MM systems along to the MM made prototypes.
Have a nice weekend!

I visited Manthey Motors facility at the Nurburgring earlier this summer in July and what a facility it is! There were racing Porsches of various types, track prepped GT3's and Turbos everywhere on the hydraulic lifts and even a MacLaren F1. The entire workshop is as clean as an operation theater and the walls are filled with pictures, prizes and memorabilia from Olaf Manthey and Manthey Racing's success in Motorsport. Speaking to the Head Racing Engineer, I gained full trust in all their parts and work and all my frieds that have dealt with Manthey are very pleased. The most value for money is said to be their wheel geometry and corner balance setup.
No affiliation, just an impressed potential customer.
Ciao,
Johannes E.
Here is a pic of the workshop.

Manthey has switched to an east german manufacturer who is cheaper than Europipe.
The quality is no where near what Europipe delivered.
Somehow that just doesn't ring true of the operation shown in those shots.
This just don't look like the kind of operation that would go cheap, or nickle and dime on anything.
What is your source for this information?
Which factory are they now using?
How can you tell it is inferior product if it is built to the Matheney specs?

Wow, that really is a surprise, who'd of thought it!
In a business where quality, and the perseption of quality, is everything I would have thought that is corporate harikari!
Happily I wasn't about to swap my exhuast anyway, shocks next!
Between Moton and JRZ, anyone have experience with both, I hear the JRZ's are better value than the cheaper Motons, as they only make a 'full on' set up, where the cheaper Moton is a bit of a compromise. Thoughts, reactions, experiences??

Thanks for all your replies! I agree with macfly, sounds strange that Manthey would change to a product with worse quality. They are suppose to be the "top of the line" when it comes to Porsche. I have written to Jan at Manthey for an answer.
How does their exhaust sound? Any other recommendation, or is europipe it?
Is there anything else with the GT3 that needs to be changed when it comes to trackdriving?

Guys,
Just because they have moved from Europipe doesn't directly mean that the new supplier is any worse. I find it hard to accept that Manthey would sell something low quality.
