Default My Research - Late SC & Carrera - Current Values

I have been monitoring sales of SCs & Carreras for a year now. Just to share some of the insight, here is an interesting graph of Porsche 911 sales from eBay, Rennlist & Pelican. Certainly not a 'definitive' graph but a good market indicator. Please read the disclaimer before you flame.

Ian

If anybody would like my whole research file, it is in MS Excel format & I would be glad to email it. PM me.

Ian,

That is an awesome job. Based on my other post for the '89 Cab widebody, whale-tail delete, I should just buy a lower priced Cab and put the flares on it! I could be done for about $25K.

Again, great job. An educated consumer...

Cheers,

Mike R.

I got it. thanks.

The 83 SC near me has 98k and needs a motor. How do I tell the guy his otherwise clean car is only worth about 6k when the lowest sale is about 10k?

I like how the actual sale values are closer to the wholesale value. so much for the CPI value guide i put weight on.

Tom

Why are you getting serious about a car that obviously has an engine problem?

Do you want the challenge of a rebuild? You could just buy a roller & an engine & put the two together if that is your goal.

If not, pass on it & keep looking. Lots of SCs around at good prices which might be cheaper than that 83 + rebuild.

Ian, your graph seems to be a lot more accurate than Bruce Andersons values. Thanks for the information.

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys. I just needed to get a grip on real prices when I started collecting data a year ago. Blue Book, NADA, Edmund's and Excellence all seemed to be singing different tunes. Besides, I needed to kill time until the household budgetary crises abated.

Great work Ian,

I would echo the sentiments of those comments before me... get her some exercise!

How about providing us with a little bid of background on the previous owner? It appears to me that from your photo of his "sea of Porsches" he has more than just this one jewel.
