Default Manual seat lowering brackets

I've got a plan to relocate the sliders on my sport seats inboard and down, which would drop the seats about 1".

I reckon other people my height or taller would like this, but 'honey bunny' asked me: "what is the liability on something like this?".

Is this something I should pursue, or would it be a liability?

Make it stronger than stock so it never becomes an issue...

Talking of seats - I find the S4 a bit uncomfortable. The side bolsters seem to be set too high compared to the seat. It sort of cuts of the circulation under the ham strings and gets a bit tiresome on a long trip. I have tried adjusting the seat up/ down/ tipped forward etc. Any one else experienced this / got a remedy? (I am not excessively fat orlarge). Perhaps it is coz us southern blokes are not as petit as our European continental counterparts? Any thoughts appreciated and yes I would be interested in knowing how to gain more headroom.

I suspect this will be of interest to many: I barely fit a sunroof equipped car - add a helmet, and many cannot fit without comprimise.
Liability? - " for off road use only" would be the affixed label ....

I agree, I have a 944 and a 928 and the 944 has alot more head room them my 928. I have electric seats on the 928 and manual in the 944. I was even thinking about using the seat rails out of the 944 with the sport seats. Any suggestions?

Dave,

It will be bent stainless sheet, but I can't go too thick, or it won't lower the seat much.
...

Garth,

That's what I thought, "FOR SHOW ONLY".
...

v-tach,

I moved my seats back to the rear hole, removed the headliner, and I still hit my head on the sunroof pan going over bumps. (In the morning, I'm 6'1".)
...

Tres,

I'm not sure if you can swap in manual rails on electric seats.
...

An easy way to add some tilt to the front of the seat would be nice too, so the seat could be more forward, and leaned back. But I'm getting ahead of the horse, now.

I can't fit in a sunroof equipped 928. Mine is a Euro with an aftermarket sunroof that exits out of the top of the car so there is plenty of room. I also have manual seats.

If you swap out the power seats for manual ones you will be lower in your car. I am 6'4" and had to do that. I think the motor assy raises the seats a couple of inches.

Sliders are ~21.5mm tall (~7/8"). A set of sliders weighs almost 5 lbs! A sport seat with sliders weighs ~36lbs.

Moving the sliders inboard can only lower the seat a little less that the height of the slider, because of the body reinforcement under the front of the seat.

This is an aside, but I noticed that the driver seats of 924s come with a 13mm extruded aluminum spacer between the slider and the seat (part#?), which would be good for those of shorter stature ('honey bunny' complains she can't see over the windshield wiper ).
...

I'm working now on an adapter strip, to replace the slider, and make the seats fixed. How often does anyone else drive my car, anyway?

There would be enough holes for adjusting backwards or forwards, but the seat would be bolted down once the proper adjustment hole was chosen. This would give about about 3/4" drop, and save about 4lbs per seat!
