Rallye lights (again)
I'm not sure if I like the look, but they do work nicely.
Since I have no front bumper, I made this to hold the lights, and the hinged license plate.
I tried this before, but the lights were attached to the bumper, so they were too far forward, and too low.

The 7" lamps did look great with the 8" H4's. Not as well with the projectors.
The lights are about were the AC filter/dryer and headlight motor would be, so there is no great loss in rad flow.
What bugs me is that they highlight how high the front end is. I really need to cut out one coil on the front springs!

Will Stongard type protection be enough for the Rallye lights.
Looks cool. Must be a distinctive nightime headlight profile.
So no James Bond rotating license plate assembly or is that hush-hush.

I agree, the lights are too low for optimum long range lighting.
They should pop up from the sunroof cavity...

I have to admit, I actually really like the look. I think I like the majority of rally X cars when they are set up though. But I understand that the usefullness completely goes away with them being so low... unless your in lofted deep fog, which no location is really going to help much.
more pics, more pics!!

I mainly ment the lisence plate blocking the rad and not so much the lights.

The license plate is mounted to a section of aluminum piano hinge. With the weight of the frame, and the bolts, the plate stays readable to about 25mph. Above 30mph it disappears.

I am curious as well, is that going to be any more acceptable than just leaving off the front plate?
I guess you could claim its "broken" and temporarily tighten something to keep the hinge from working, but what about the height, is that going to be "legal"?

Porken, I think that looks really slick.
Shades of the old rally cars.
