stereo wiring diagram
i had my radio ripped out of my console. so there are wires all over. Does anyone know of a color code type wiring diagram for the 944. I have an 86n/a if that matters. i have a sony cd player my friend gave me for the time being. i want to rig it up, i just need to know what wire is what. The one that sparks is obviously the power but other than that im lost.
Thanks
Thanks

Do a search on msn for the 944 FAQ. It has a wiring diagram in it for the stereo stuff, it's what I used to rig up my pioneer cd player.

Here is what I remember along with info from the factory manual and other sources(no guarantees)
pin 1 - Brown - ground (thick wire)
pin 2 - Red - main 12V switched (thick wire)
pin 3 - Red with black stripe - lamps/dimmer
pin 4 - Red with black stripe - antenna amplifier
pin 5 - Green with white stripe - permanent positive
3 and 4 are bridged on the stock setup apparently. There is an additional set of power connectors for ancillary equipment.
The 8 speaker wires should be obvious because they are thinner. They are paired by colour with the -ve having a brown stripe (if the speaker is in the right way!).
yellow - left rear
red - right rear
black - right front
white - left front
Mine works fine so can't have been too wrong.
If you find any mistakes give some feedback so future searches of the archive will pick them up.
Cheers,
Chris
