Default Lurching

npplaw wrote:
Re: the lurching issue, I though it was just me but it was annoying. But, I just got mine back from the dealer (Carlsen in Nor Cal) with two software updates. They replaced the PCM (common radio drifting complaint) and updated the PCM software to v.3. They also said they had just received new software for the drive-by-wire lurching issue. Service explained why it was happening, and I must say the fix is a huge difference...it drives like any other vehicle now....no lurching, real smooth.
I also see that mudman2 is looking into this on the renntech forum. This is a significant issue that has been commented on many times. If there is an update for this from Porsche I think we would all be interested in learning more about it.

Npplaw, please tell us more. What was the explanation from the service tech?

Based on the info I got from Loren and the reply from my dealer, I am not sure that this wasn't just dealer BS.

First the alleged PCM firmware upgrade and now this, I have a pinch of salt in my hand.

If anyone can track this down I think everyone would like to know. Matt if you are reading what is the situation in Switzerland ?

I will keep trying also but remember no one heard about the drip drip fix until it was almost being fitted, not even the dealers and Atlanta are not very fast responding to emails, so anything is possible.

I spoke with my service guy at Park Place here in Dallas last week. He was aware of the lurching software update. In fact, it had already been applied to one of their customer's vehicle and a very disgruntled customer was suddenly made very happy. I'm waiting on the fleeting brake-pad replacements to come in and will have those installed as well as the lurching fix and the rear check valve. Hopefully, my parts will arrive next week.

Really, thats great news ! Loren did advise of a temporary fix which was released in March and that something was expected, but to date my dealer says they know nothing.

I would like to hope that this does exist and does the job because if you visit around the boards its been the single common major complaint since launch.

What makes it stranger is that I read on the VW board that the T-reg apparently suffers something very similar.

Thanks for the info Toby.

You're welcome Mike. Now if FabSpeed will just finish their production runs..... AND PCNA will start shipping brake pad replacements..... AND Becker starts shipping their Online Pro 7800 to the USofA, Life Would Be Good!!!

I checked back with the Service Manage and this is what he explains to me.
The lastest version for the PST2 is v.18.0, and it was released about three weeks ago. He says this nwe version now permits the technician to reset the latest (corrected) run map for the DME.
I am not technical but he said they flashed the DME so as to be able to load the new run map. The flashing of course removes the old learned behavior (last 50 starts?). The hesitation we experience is the original run map's bug allowed a slight hesitation which the DME interpreted to be your driving style....so it was a loop, it "saw" aggressive driving and kept trying to adapt.
All I can say is that it worked on mine.....drives very normal.

This is my latest experience with Carlson:

I had a dead battery problem again Fri afternoon, Mon. dealer found a dead cell, replaced battery.

Control module wouldn't load. PCNA overnited a new control module & it was received and installed today.

I think they're first class.......
