Clutch and flywheel upgrade
Well, I have pulled my car off the raod for the rest of the summer due to hitting a deer. I also need to do some work, T-belt, water pump, rollers, front seals. I also started to notice that during hard acceleration and quick shifting that my clutch is slipping in 2nd and 3rd gea. SO now I think I need a new clutch. I want to installing a lightened flywheel and a stronger than OEM clutch and pressure plate. Does anyone have and ideas on where to go and what would be the best setup? Is anyone running a lightened flywheel??
Thanx,
Dave

Not sure about on a 924, but I know that if you put on an aluminum flywheel you might need to chip the DME. I know that this is necessary on some of the later cars, most notably the 968 because the DME cannot keep up with the very rapid deceleration that occurs due to the lack of rotational momentum.
It is definately something to look into.

if you can pull it off go for the aluminum flywheel...i mean if that's the ONLY mod you have you probably won't notice a difference...but with other things it really does...i.e. crossdrilled crankshaft and power pulleys, etc.

For what it's worth, I use my 951 for a daily driver, It has a moderatly modified engine putting out just over 300 hp with an alunimum flywheel and Centerforce clutch. Drivability is very good in traffic. Only issue it that the cultch engages very quickly and uphill starts at traffic lights can be exciting.
I really like the "feel" of the setup, but don't know if it is due to just the clutch/flywheel, or if the extra power plays any role.
